Open source + managed cloud
Self-host it free — or let us keep it current
Open source gives you freedom and transparency. Cloud is for teams who want us to do the watching, updating and hosting so they never have to touch a server.
Self-host (free, AGPL)
You run ClauseKeeper, you own the data, and the scanner plus generator work fully.
- ✓ Free AGPL source code you can inspect and modify
- ✓ Run it on your own infrastructure
- ✓ Keep your documents and data under your control
- You maintain clause rules and re-deploy as laws change
Best when you want maximum control and are comfortable owning ongoing maintenance.
Cloud — Always-Current (from $12.42/mo)
We track legal changes and push updates to your live hosted documents automatically. Annual is $149/yr; monthly is available at $19/mo.
- ✓ EU AI Act phase tracking and US state privacy-law updates
- ✓ Hosted, versioned policy URLs
- ✓ Managed clause-rule updates without manual re-deploys
- ✓ Zero ops — you never touch a server
Best when you want the same transparent engine, with maintenance and hosting handled for you.
FAQ
Why pay if it’s open source?
Why pay if I can self-host for free?
You are not paying for secret code. You are paying for maintenance, legal-change monitoring, automatic updates, hosting and versioned URLs so your documents stay current without ops work.
Is the hosted version different from the open-source one?
It uses the same core engine. Cloud adds managed updates, hosting, billing and the operational pieces needed to keep live documents current.
Can I start self-hosted and move to Cloud later?
Yes. Start self-hosted if that is right for your team, then move to Cloud when you want ClauseKeeper maintained and hosted for you.
Will Cloud lock me in?
No. The AGPL code stays available, and your documents remain yours. Cloud is the convenience layer: we do the watching so you do not have to.
